Ephemera Queen: A Mini Album

Très Jolie’s Cards, Tags and More Kit for December, featuring the Ephemera Queen collection from Graphic 45, came loaded with all the makings for a mini album. I added a few items of my own and came up with this…

I usually paint the edges of these Kraft albums, but I decided to leave them “as is”. I wanted to use some Graphic 45 tags and coordinating dies, and this was a perfect match.

A few years ago, I stocked up on several pads of Core’dinations cardstock that matched Graphic 45’s colors. I used several sheets to create the tag die cuts.

All edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Along with an 8x8 paper pad, the kit included a package of journaling cards of varied sizes. I used a lot of the larger ones to create pockets; the rest were used to embellish pages and tags.

I’ve also used items from the sticker sheet here and there throughout the album.

As you can see, the patterns, while beautiful, are awfully busy. Here, I used the reverse side of a journaling card as the front of my pocket. I embellished it with a resin piece from the kit and filled it with a couple of ATC-sized tags.

The image on this pocket blends well with the pattern beneath. It contains a Regular-sized tag and a journaling card topped with a metal clothespin.

Kim included some actual playing cards in the kit. I’ve taken two of them and attached some of the smaller journaling cards (backed with packaging for a little dimension) and glued them to the page.

There’s a lot going on here. I used some of the medium cards to create a waterfall…

hinged with scraps.

I used one of the cutout strips to make a belly band near the bottom to hold a few medium-sized cards.

The next page contains a flap pocket that holds a couple of the large cards, perfect for journaling.

The back of the flap is embellished with a sticker.

I adhered another large card to the center of the page. It can stand on its own or can be used to mat a photo.

Another pocket: this one is backed by a scrap to bring out the yellow flowers. I clipped a metal clothespin to the upper corner.

Such a pretty tag; I love how the Core’dinations cardstock is such a perfect match.

I found a sticker that matched the pattern of my pocket to embellish the page.

I used a sheet of the pattern paper to make a diagonal pocket and trimmed the top with crochet lace from the June kit.

I like how some of the ATC-sized ephemera comes with a playing card theme.

Another pocket created with a large journaling card featuring a beautiful set of images.

Here is another pocket flap, embellished with a resin piece.

It flips over to reveal a floral pattern embellished with a couple of stickers.

The base page itself contains another pocket to hold a few photographs, with the reverse exposed for a few lines of journaling.

I used the paper left from the diagonal pocket a few pages back and created another one using the reverse side.

Again, I matted a journaling card with a scrap of pattern paper to make a pocket.

These were created with the Square tags.

I used another of the cutouts to make a strip to run under a medium-sized card and used the last of the playing cards to finish the page.

A scrap and a border punch make a pretty way to create some interest behind one more journaling card. These two pages were kept simple. The journaling pieces can stay as is or be used to mat a few photos.

I rarely do more than cover the backs of my albums, leaving the decoration to the front cover.

The center strip was backed with packaging. I glued a punched strip down each side of the spine before adhering the center. When it was set, I used Art Glitter glue to attach the metal piece and tied a few coordinating lengths of crinkled seam binding onto the ring.

I like to decorate my cover last. With all the opening and closing and shifting the album around, there’s just a lot of wear and tear involved with creating the pages and I want to avoid destroying my embellishments.

I’ve chosen to keep the decoration simple, using some flowers from my stash, the last of the resin and lace and one more of the clothespins. There were a few gaps here and there; they mad a perfect setting for the pearl hearts and drops that I received from my scrapping buddy, Elizabeth Pipkin.
