Where the Wind Meets the Water

This photo, taken by my daughter-in-law, went to the top of my “Must Scrap” pile the instant I saw it The Sea Land collection from Stamperia gave me the perfect setting for this layout.

The paper is so richly detailed that I thought I should keep the page simple.
I cut a 12” x 12” square from a piece of packaging and removed the paper from the front to expose the corrugated ribs.
Next, I tore the pattern paper around all four sides and inked the edges. To create interest, I took another sheet and cut a narrow strip to tuck underneath the right side of my layout. Before gluing it all down, I tore and inked the exposed side.
Still keeping it simple, I selected a section from the reverse side of the paper that I used for the strip. This was torn on three sides and inked. I adhered a bit of chipboard to the back of the photo and then to the matting.
Before gluing it down, I wrapped the bottom of the photo several times with jute and created a bow. I added more chipboard to the back so everything would lie flat and glued it down.
I added a few flowers from my stash and called it done. (I’m usually pretty good about listing my supplies, but these flowers were odds and ends that I had removed from the packaging and placed in jars some time ago. I think that they’re from Prima…)

About the title: The sentiment on the paper captured the photo so well that I decided to use the last part. I usually struggle with titles, but this one is perfect!

A Bit of Alchemy

Does everyone have as much trouble with “masculine” cards as I do? With three sons, birthdays can be a struggle! I came up with a solution for my youngest, thanks to Stamperia’s Alchemy collection.

I started with a cut-apart journaling card that I wanted to use as a pocket. I adhered it on three sides to a 6” square piece cut from a darker pattern featuring script and mechanical images. Next, I cut out some numerals and adhered them with dimensional tape, tucking a few metal gears into the sides.
More cut-aparts: a tag and another journaling card (with messages on the back) were tucked into the pocket to complete the card.

A Simple Card

My sister is having surgery in a few days and I wanted to send her a card along with my best wishes. Since she’s a quilter, I thought that the Patchwork collection from Stamperia would be perfect.

Talk about quick and easy – this is actually a cut-apart adhered to a 4 x 5½ piece from another sheet. I then cut a bit of a border strip and tore one edge before gluing it to the bottom of the card.
A cut-out popped up with dimensional tape and a bit of a bow and I was done!

Enchanting

I’ve gone deep into my stash to scrap this “Enchanting” photo taken by my daughter-in-law, using several Graphic 45 collections: An Eerie Tale and Sun Kissed.

I started out by cutting an 8” square from the center of my bottom piece for later use. The next layer (one of two from the Sun Kissed collection) was trimmed to an 11” square before I punched the corners and distressed and inked the sides. I did a lot of layering of colors and patterns for my matting to draw out the colors of the photo.
The doily shapes on either side were created with an old Tim Holtz die. The vines cut from cardstock on my Cameo, then inked on both sides.
I dug even deeper to find one of my first stamp purchases: a set from Heartfelt Creations. After fussy cutting my pumpkins, I backed them with chipboard to make them “pop” and glued them in layers.

To finish my cluster, I tucked some pretty flowers here and there.
