My Happy Project: A Few ATCs and a Box to Hold Them

The March Cards, Tags and More Kit from Très Jolie is all about ATCs, aka Artist Trading Cards. Not only did I receive a box full of card bases from Prima, but the kit came with several sheets of rice paper from Stamperia plus flowers and doodads to create all sorts of designs.
Here's what I came up with, starting with the box itself…

Using a stipple brush, I began by coating the entire outside, plus the inside flap with Bronze Age metallic wax. I “borrowed” a piece of chipboard from the Mixed Media Kit and coated it with Vintage Gold wax and attached it to the front. Next, I took the glass bulb that came with the hairpin and glued it to the metal piece. I coated this with Aged Brass wax and placed it in the center. I altered a few of the Sweet Lavender flowers with acrylic paint and arranged them around the front.
Lastly, I attached a phrase from a Cosmo Cricket sheet that I’ve had for a few years.

A metal filigree piece from my stash, treated with Aged Brass wax, was glued to the side.

I thought that this image from the Photobooth Pad (part of last June’s Mixed Media Kit) was perfect for the inner cover.

Once I finished the box, I started to work on my ATCs. I ended up creating two sets of three.

For the first set, I used some of that gorgeous rice paper and flowers and a metal clock from the kit, as well as a few items from my stash.

For the second, I used packaging and the stamp that came in the kit to create a variety of background. I added flowers and some of those doodads mentioned above, along with some Tim Holtz Paper Dolls and more of the phrases from the Cosmo Cricket sticker sheet.

Here are the details:

Some chippie gears (treated with Vintage Gold wax), a small clock and a few of the Opal flowers are all that are needed to embellish this background.

A pair of keys from my stash go perfectly with the sentiment; I’ve added a scattering of flowers to finish it off.

A few chippies, a few flowers here; I didn’t want to cover that wonderful image on top.

This happy couple is standing on the packaging that came with the hatpin piece; I colored the bride’s bouquet with a few markers and added a bit of lace from my stash to the side.

I created the background with the Prima stamp that came with the kit and Distress Ink. This little miss stands beside tickets and filmstrip ribbon that I fastened with staples.

My last: packaging from Scrapaholics chipboard, some filmstrip ribbon, a Finnabair numeral and a sticker sentiment, along with a piece of lace trim make a perfect setting for this vintage pair.

Irish

Patrick Joseph Charles Darby, aka my Uncle Pat, was outgoing, humorous, and so proud of his Irish heritage. I thought he’d be a perfect subject for my St. Patrick’s Day layout.

The design itself was inspired by the Très Jolie Kit Club’s mood board for March and assembled with the kit itself, along with a few odds and end from my stash.

I started by covering the chipboard frame with Metallique paint.
While this was drying, I selected the Queen’s Ocean sheet for my base. The Emerald Queen paper, with the greens and golds was perfect for my layers; I cut this into pieces of various sizes, distressed the edges, and began to assemble the layers. I added a couple of pieces cut from the Wild Day sheet to go with the black and white suggestion of the mood board.

I began to embellish my photo with the Emerald Isle flowers that came with the kit, along with gold lace from my stash. I altered one of the metal clocks with Metallique wax before layering it between the flowers and lace at the top of the photo.

To finish, I colored the droplets with more of the wax and scattered them around the page.
