Adventure Awaits

Bringing in the tree; from left to right: Vincent, my DIL’s dad, Nicholas, Sophia and my DS.
Here’s more of the Christmas Tree Hunt, using old supplies – in this case, Blue Fern Studios papers and 7 Dots elements.
I started by covering the Stillness sheet with clear gesso and allowing it to dry. This cuts down on the warping from mixed media. Meanwhile, I cut the Road Trip sheet into various shapes and sizes, arranged them to fit under my photo and stapled them together when I was satisfied with the “pile”. The photo was adhered to a piece of corrugated packaging to give it some dimension and glued to the top.
Next, I decided exactly where I wanted to place my photo and marked it with a pencil before randomly stenciling and then stamping my page.
After adhering my photo, I added some bare chippie squares and flowers to embellish my page, then a few of the 7 Dots Elements around the photo. (I’ve used one of these for my title on top of the photo and another on the bottom to record the date.) Next, I added a little Stone Effect Paste around the flowers to add a bit of texture.
I finished it all off by covering the photo and creating a snowfall around the page with watered down gesso.

Family

It’s been a while since I’ve done some scrapping; I’ve been doing the Christmas thing – cards and cookies and decorating and shopping… Time to get back into taking out my photos and supplies and creating a layout or two.

I’m trying to make a dent in my hoard and so I’ve dug into my pattern papers and found this sheet from the Nature Walk collection by 7 Dots. I think it provides a perfect rustic background for this photo of the grandchildren striking a pose at the Christmas tree farm.
I’m also determined to lighten the pile of chipboard; I found this one that scrappy friend Rae Moses gave me some time ago. I wanted to be able to reassemble the pieces after altering the “chain” part with rust paste, so I simply colored the outer and inner parts with black ink.
The background layers are from a few Kaisercraft papers and a few remnants of sticker sheets from 7 Gypsies.
I embellished the corner with a Finnabair washer and a tangle of thread.
The background splatters are part of the paper pattern. The title is from a Heidi Swapp sticker collection.

As always, I want to thank you for peeking into my blog; your visits mean a lot to me.

Million Dollar Dream

Did you know that May 20 was Be a Millionaire Day? I certainly didn't know that there was such a thing until Jan Penny, who is hosting the May 2016 SGC Challenge, pointed it out.
And that is the theme of her challenge: to scrap what you would do if you had a million dollars.

Realistically, I'd (1)retire and (2)move closer to my grandchildren, but we're fantasizing here, so I've decided that I'd grab me some island space in the Caribbean and let the grandchildren (and their parents and uncles) come to me.

I've been doing some cleaning and organizing of my scrap room and I came across this wonderful collection by 7 Dots - perfect for my subject. Add some cheesecloth and a bit of blue netting (thanks, Jen Snyder!) and a few shells from a shop in Provincetown, Cape Cod (thanks to my SIL Linda Wood for taking me there) and some scattered pearls and there you have it - my Million Dollar Dream.

Jan added a few twists; I've done them all.
1.Use the word million in your title. I've actually put the title on my page: Million Dollar Dream.
2.Use purple on your project. There are hints of purple around the edges of the paper and one of the last of my Blue Fern Studios flowers from the April kit next to the photo. I've also inked the edges of my photos and elements with Dusty Concord Distress Ink and scattered purple pearls and shells around the page.
3.Use a song title or lyrics. I'm assuming that you all recognize the lyrics that I printed out and placed here and there.
