Nothing More Adorable for Tres Jolie Kits

Tres Jolie’s Mood Board for February is just so beautiful that I was inspired to one more layout with the Scrapbook Kit, this one featuring my Granddaughter back in 2013.

This time, I was struck not only by the pretty pinks and roses. The images of the tiny dancer and the layers of tulle put me in mind of this photo taken just before her ballet recital.

Again, here is the Mood Board. And here is a link to the Reveal Post with details of the February Challenge:

I did another take on the “LAYERS” twist, this time using layers and layers of torn edges with a lot of packaging in-between to add dimension and definition. I tucked these gorgeous Tres Jolie Border Strips down the sides after treating them with Embossing Powder. (I deliberately left random spots bare to add to the shabby look.)

Here is another gorgeous chipboard piece from Tres Jolie. I’ve given it a couple of layers of the Embossing Powder from Lindy’s Stamp Gang.

I thought that the glittery flowers that were included in the Mixed Media Kit were a better match…

I used a combination of laser cuts and rub ons from the kit to create a scattering of sequins and butterflies.

I applied a rub on image to a piece of scrap and fussy cut it out to create this; I backed it with several thin strips of packaging to allow it to pop off the page.

I finished my page by covering the photo and using a fan brush to splatter it with watered-down gesso.

Saturday Morning Down the Shore

There seems to be a bit of a beach theme in my last few postings. Pure coincidence: the materials that I’ve been working with have been perfect for the images that I’ve used. This layout, however, is different. The AB Studio Diva collection, full of pinks, purples and grays and bold patterns, cries out for equally bold and dramatic images to match. However, this photo of my grandsons has been on the top of my “must do” pile since June and I wanted to find a way to use it. I think that the “B” side of this sheet, with the distressed stone pattern in the center, fits perfectly.

I’ve based this on the August sketch from Très Jolie. I like the way it features layers on layers and details such as the shapes of the chipboard embellishments that came in the kit.

I started with those chipboard pieces, coating them with black gesso and them treating them with embossing powder.

Next, I prepared my tags. First, I cut one from the “Desire” sheet (it’s filled with a nice variety of tags and flowers and clocks), punched out the hole and inked the edges. I created two more tags from stripped USPS packaging and fastened jute string to all the tops.

I created the layers under the photo with the tags and two stitched frames from the June kit. Next, I attached the chipboard keys and chains and added the flowers.

I finished my page with shells and a piece of Flair from my stash.

And that was it: a quick and easy layout featuring a lazy Saturday morning down the Jersey Shore.
