Indigo Dreams Mini Album - A Saturday Tutorial for Swirlydoos

Good Saturday morning, Swirly Savages!
Grab your favorite edge punch, a bit of scrap packaging and your basic tools - we're going to make a mini using the gorgeous "Indigo Dreams" March Kit and Add-Ons from Swirlydoos!

The colors, patterns and embellishments that make up the "Indigo Dreams" kit  are perfect for a series of photos of my son and daughter-in-law and their children that were taken by Emily Blatt in July, 2014 and beyond a few basic tools, everything I needed to create a quick and easy mini!

For the basic mini assemblage, I've created a tutorial on Snapguide; here's the link
Below, I've shown how each page and components came together.

I took the photos that I wasn't going to glue down and matted them with scraps of pattern paper. I added bits from the Kaisercraft Ubud Collectables that came in the Embellishment Add-On and placed the photos in various pockets.

On the left, stickers from the Embellishment Add-On.
On the right, gems from the Main Kit on the bottom corners and wood people icons from the Embellishments up top. (You'll be seeing more of the people scattered here and there throughout the book and on the cover; I fell in love with these little guys.)

The flap opens up to show photos of my granddaughter and her parents. On one side, I placed a title banner from the Kaisercraft Collectables from the Embellishment Add-On. The wood heart on the right is one of three that were included in the Project Kit.

The pocket contains a few journaling cards that I fussy cut from the Scrapberry's Cards 2 sheet that came in the Main Kit. The glittery cork hearts are from the Embellishment Add-On.
Also from the Embellishment Add-On is the sticker on the bottom of the photo.

The pearl heart is from the package of pearl swirly stickers from K & Company, again, part of the Embellishment Kit.

And now for a boy page, featuring the twins; I've simply double matted the photo with contrasting cardstock and adhered a border that I fussy cut from the Scrapberry's Cards 1 sheet from the Main Kit.
I left the facing page pretty simple - a few more of the cork hearts and two of the Kaisercraft Collectables are all I needed.

Another pocket and another simple waterfall; I slipped a journaling card in with the photo and embellished the outside of the pocket with a Kaisercraft Collectables title banner and a few of the wood icons.
Another piece from the Collectables package perfectly describes my feeling about the photo!

Another sticker from the Embellishment Kit and one more of the Project Kit wood hearts go so well with this photo...

A Kaisercraft Collectables tag with a bit of twine and a few more of the wood people icons, all from the Embellishment Add-Ons are all I used on the left page; I wanted the dreamcatcher image to show.
The Collectables title makes a good tab....

...and flip it over to see this photo embellished with the last of the wood hearts from the Project Kit.

This pocket was made from the same sheet as the page on the right. I cut it 3" from the bottom and fussy cut the top to create the border. One more Collectables title tag with twine and a cork heart on the outside and a couple of matted photos tucked in complete the inner album.
(I left the last page alone. The beautiful graphics need no embellishment!)

I always do the covers last; they get moved around and flattened so much while I work on the pages that they actually take quite a beating.
First, I used the bit of the Darice doily tape that was left from the Project Kit to cover the edges of the paper that makes up the binding. I also used some of the ArtC semi-gloss paint on my wood people icons. (The ones on the inside are untreated.)
The title piece (another of the Kaisercraft Collectables) was adhered to a bit of chipboard before being glued to the cover to give it a little dimension. I've added a few pearls from the Project Kit to two of the corners.
The cardstock images beneath the flowers were fussy cut from the Scrapberry's Cards 1 sheet from the Main Kit.
And I finished it all off with 49 and Market blooms and butterfly, again from the "Indigo Dreams" Swirlydoos Kit.

And there you have it - a quick and easy mini album made with the March Kit and Add-Ons and a few basic tools.

I hope that I've inspired you to gather up your scraps and leftovers and to see what you come up with!
