Tres Jolie’s Cards, Tags and More Kit for February comes with everything you need to create a mini-album: a gorgeous paper stack from Stamperia, a package of Prima flowers, a set of resin cameos, seam binding and sequins, the Flora Leaves die from Kaisercraft and – best of all – several packages of Tres Jolie’s own laser cut chipboard! I’ve added a few items from my stash and came up with this:
I selected this sheet, with its look of an antique wall in Italy for the cover. I created a shaker element with a dome from my stash and sequins from the kit and embellished it with a few of the Prima flowers and several die cut leaves. (By the way, I did this last so I could work with the reverse side. I usually save the cover for the end to prevent a lot of wear and tear.)
This first page was created from a sheet that was too pretty to cover. I embellished it with one of the Clock chipboard pieces, a few sequins and punched out butterflies. I gave the clock a weathered stone appearance by spraying it with Pearl White mist and then giving it several coats of UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel).
The weathered wood pattern makes a perfect background for my second page. I created a pocket from the top third of another sheet to hold a couple of fussy cut tags. I just love this chipboard piece! It’s “Flower Set 2”, from the Tres Jolie store. I dabbed it with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink, sprinkled it with UTEE and gave it a blast of my heat tool. I cut it apart and topped it with a cutout circle.
Page 3 was just too pretty to cover. I added a resin cameo, a punched out butterfly and a quote piece from a Prima sticker pad that came with a previous kit.
The fourth page looks like old wallpaper. I simply gave it another pocket and added one of the cut-out journaling cards.
Pages 5 and 6 need little embellishment. I treated the Clock chipboard with the same technique that I used for the Flower chippies, first dabbing them with Distress Oxide Ink and then a light coating of UTEE. I added one of the Prima flowers and two die cut vines.
The old stone wall makes a nice background for a stuffed pocket, a cutout clock and another of the Prima quote strips, while the pattern on page 8 again needs little embellishment.
The actual star of this set of pages is the Bird Border chipboard. I dabbed it with some Prima chalk ink and treated it with (you guessed it!) several coats of UTEE.
Here’s another chipboard piece available at the Tres Jolie store: Marrakesh Panel. I covered it with black gesso, then some of the Crackle Medium that came in the Mixed Media kit. When it was dry, I gave it a very light coat of white gesso. I added a Heart Key from the Scrapbook Kit, treated with chalk ink and UTEE. A journaling cutout, a flower and a couple of butterflies completes the page.
The last page, with the subtle pattern of branch and blossom, was given one more pocket, a few sequins, and the remaining Flower from Set 2.
I’ve used binder rings to hold the pages together, embellished with leftover lace and seam binding.
