Innocence

Of course – May being the month of Mother’s Day – I scrapped a photo of my own Mother. This year, I wanted to do this a bit differently, using an image of her taken during the Summer of 1921 at the age of 2-1/2, with her Aunt Kate looking on. The soft papers and embellishments that make up the May Scrapbook Kit from Tres Jolie are perfect for capturing the sweet innocence of that time…

I began by applying some of the Crackle Paste that came in the April Mixed Media Kit through a Prima stencil that I’ve had for years.

Once that had set, I began to add layers, using some more of the pieces that I had cut from the cover sheet and the reverse side of the same paper to matte the photo.

I adhered a bit of the chipboard border to the bottom and then embellished the corners with fussy cut leaves (from the 6 x 6 Cutout sheets) and a few of those gorgeous flowers from the Courage package.

Lastly, I fussy cut a few butterflies and arranged them here and there to finish my layout.
