Light the Way

 

Sunday is Father’s Day, so I wanted to create a layout featuring my father. Tres Jolie’s JuneScrapbook Kit is made to order in so many ways!

Dad was an electrical engineer, employed at General Railway Signal Company in Rochester, New York. The patterned paper, along with cutout pages, Tres Jolie’s own chipboard, MitForm metals, and a few odds and ends from my stash all came together to make a perfect setting for his story. 

And here is the Mood Board I followed:

 

I started by fussy cutting some of the “Images to Cut” and applying a layer of Glossy Accents to the bulbs and clock. While they were drying, I gave my chipboard pieces a light coating of Charcoal Black matte wax, then applied various colored matte waxes with a stipple brush until I was satisfied with the results.

I started to assemble my layout, matting the photo with a few distressed layers of a contrasting sheet of paper. I glued down the chipboard borders, one under the photo and another in the upper corner and attached a few of those Glossy Accented bulbs. I layered the rest of my fussy cut images and one of the MitForm gears to the left of the photo and a few smaller gears from my stash above the chipboard. Next, I added some Junkyard Findings, treating the nickel screw heads with alcohol ink to give them a coppery appearance. I finished my piece by adding a Quote Chip.
