Have Dreams

I decided to take a break from Christmas preparations and scrap this photo that my daughter-in-law took of my grandsons using the November Kit from Tres Jolie.

This kit is full of lots of goodies: flowers and chippies and lace, along with a stencil and a small stamp. But the best part of the package is the paper: the Dreamland collection from AB Studio, a new company located in Poland. The colors and images are just gorgeous: pinks and greens and blacks and golds and flowers and feathers and all sorts of pretty images. Fortunately, a few of the sheets are perfect for more masculine layouts, with more neutral colors and patterns.

For inspiration, I used the Sketch that Kim created for the December Kit, flipping it from left to right.
Once I had chosen my base sheet, I chose another piece of paper and cut out a couple of rectangles to use as matting. Next, I fussy cut a few tags, punched holes in the tops and threaded them with trim from my stash. There are two sheets with images begging to be fussy cut; I selected a few feathers and gears.
Next, dug into the chippies and selected a few feathers and a few keys. I gave them all a coating of Bronze Age was and put the keys aside.
I wanted my chipboard feathers to capture some of the colors of my cut-outs, so I applied Red Amber wax on one of them, with varied streaks here and there until I got the result I wanted. The other two were given the same treatment with Turquoise Satin wax.

Now for the keys. To give them a more textured look, I coated them with VersaMark and then embossing powder and heat dried. I wasn’t satisfied with the result (a bit too thin), so I repeated the steps one more time.

I played around with all of my embellishments until they looked “just right” and glued them down. The last detail was the title, cut from one of the UPC strips.

When everything was glued down, I covered the photo and added some splatters in black and gold to give it all a bit more texture.

A big, big thanks to my wonderful Daughter-In-Law for the photo of her Little Guys.
