Follow Your Heart: A Wall Hanging

The February Media Kit from the Très Jolie Kit Club came with everything to create a wall hanging that is perfect for displaying a favorite photo.

I began by giving the entire burlap heart a light coating of gesso. While keeping the rustic appearance, this softened the browns and gave it a more romantic look.

While I had the gesso out, I gave the grapevine pieces a light coat, too and covered the chipboard piece completely.

The flowers that came with the kit were coated with the Sparks paint and set aside to set. I also dry brushed the grapevine hearts and the chipboard.

Once the flowers were completely dry, I took out the Metallique Wax and used a stipple brush to coat the leaves and (very lightly) the grapevine hearts. I didn’t care for the results of the chipboard treatment (too light!), so I coated it with the wax, then a very light coating of the Phoenix Feather Sparks.

After gluing my photo to a piece of packaging, I adhered it to the inside of the shutter piece, then attached it to the burlap heart, using Beacon 3-in-1 adhesive. Next, I added the chipboard.

The flowers and grapevine hearts were added one at a time, allowing each piece to set before adhering the next one.

I love how the Sparks altered my flowers: the colors are so pretty and the underlying metallics are gorgeous!

And that’s it: time to pack away the few leftover items and to clean my scrap room and get ready for another project…
