I recently spent
a long weekend scrapping with some wonderful (and talented) friends. Of course,
I packed my Swirlydoos Kit! and I tossed a Memory Hardware album into the case,
thinking that the Wild and Free papers were perfect for a mini. This was a "make
it up as you go along" project that, thanks to Heather Thompson's offer of
matching journaling cards, some additional chippies from Maggi Harding and a
couple of sheets of black cardstock (I seem to have needed more than two
pieces) from Billie Frey, quickly morphed into this.
I began by going
around all of the edges with the Butterfly Spells Sparks paint that came in the
Mediums Kit. When it was completely dry, I used several layers from the
Cardstock Add-On to mat the pretty papers that I selected for the covers.
And now for the
inside...
More matting and
a journaling card make a good start (I just love the rose gold foil that
appears throughout the papers!); the reverse side of the Cosmic Love and Lights
sheet makes a pretty background for a few of the chipboard pieces and a
butterfly icon from the Main Kit.
Another reverse
side - Into the Wild - was used for the next two pages. The chipboard butterfly
was treated with the Sparks paint and given a pretty middle using the Nailhead
stickers from the Embellishment Kit. On the opposite side, I've created a small
waterfall with cardstock and more of the journaling cards.
I used both
sides of the Everyday You papers (this is why it's such a good idea to order
the Pattern Paper Add-On!) here: the front side is full of cut-apart images and
the back is so, so pretty! The flowers (from the Flower Add-On) and the
chipboard feathers were all treated with the new Finnabair Metallique Waxes
that came in the Mediums Add-On. I created a pocket with a bit of the Cosmic
Love paper, embellished it with a few of the cut-aparts and Prima trim from my
stash and filled it with a few journaling cards.
This one's
pretty simple - a bit of Magic faces this sweet lady sitting on a die-cut
doily.
This is the
center of the album. I decided to create facing pages with pockets from the
Into the Wild sheet, embellished with die cut borders and wood butterfly icons
and filled with a few more journaling cards.
The rest of the
album actually mirrors the first half. Here, I've used the same simple design,
using a chippie to match the sentiment on the journaling card.
These flowers
are actually pieces of various Prima trims with a bit of vines cut from
glassine using the April Die of the Month. I've created the pocket from the
Let's Be Adventurers sheet.
A few fussy cut
pieces of paper and a bit of chipboard from the Embellishment Add-On face a
sideways fold-out.
My last pages -
again pretty simple with some more of the cut-aparts and one more journaling
card.
Even though I
kept embellishments to a minimum, I ended up with an album a bit too
"fat" to shut, so I took some of the twine from the Project Kit and
wrapped it around the book before covering the back and sides with paper. And
now, time to embellish - with the corrugated heart from the Main Kit that made
me think of this album in the first place and these gorgeous 49 and Market
flowers from the Flower Add-On.
