Four Cards for All Occasions

The July Cards, Tags and More… Kit from Très Jolie was a little more traditional this month: it came with a pretty paper pad from Prima and all of the embellishments that you could possibly need to make a stack of greeting cards.

I chose to create several simple cards that came together in one afternoon.

I began by coloring the wood embellishments and a snippet of the chipboard vine with Oxide Ink, a medium so “juicy” that it took only one coat on the raw surfaces. The pink on the wood shapes was just a little too bold, so I misted them with some Color Bloom spray and dried them with my heat tool.

The card itself came together in under a minute. I simply adhered the layers together, glued the embellishments on and finished it with a strip of Washi tape.

I decided to used the plaid print as my top layer for my second card. I glued a small section of the cut apart down, then added Washi tape, tucking the top strips underneath before gluing the rest. A few blooms and a couple of wood shapes (altered with Oxide Ink) and I was done.

I love the grey music paper print on this paper, but it was just too plain to make it a focus piece. In the end, I decided to make it the middle of five layers and I do like the way it turned out. I used a punch on the edge of the layer under the cut apart to more or less blend in with the ticket embellishment.

This is actually the vellum sheet that came in the flower package, glued to the base paper. I placed a strip of Washi tape from side to side and glued down the cut apart, then tucked a couple of tickets underneath. I wanted to keep the (almost) monochrome color scheme, so I altered the butterfly and vine snippets with black ink.

And that’s it: four cards made in no time, with plenty of “ingredients” left over for at least a dozen more.
