Looking Back

My father would have turned 101 this month, so this photo must be from 100 years ago.

I decided to scrap it using the Mood Board that was included with the May kit from Très Jolie.

I liked the clock theme – so appropriate for my subject, so I decided to create layers using a variety of materials.

After coating my paper with clear gesso, I used a Stamperia stencil and Rust Paste to create my first layer, adding some script here and there around the page.

While that was drying, I took out a very old (and beloved) die and created a clock from chipboard which I colored with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

The May kit came with two sheets of images: one full of clocks and one full of butterflies. I selected the ones I wanted for my layout and after fussy cutting them, inked them around the edges.

I backed my photo with a piece of packaging to give it depth and stability, then measured and cut my matting layers. These were lightly distressed and inked around the edges and then adhered behind my photo. I glued one more piece of packing in the back and attached it all to my paper.

I halved my die cut clock and placed the left side along the photo, putting the remainder aside for another time. Next, I started layering the fussy cut clocks on top, using more packaging underneath to allow them to pop up away from the base.
I played around with the flowers that came with the kit until I was satisfied with their placement, and then glued them down.

I added a bit of the beautiful vintage lace that was included in the March kit.

I repeated these steps along the right side of the photo.

I added a piece of flair (or button, as described by Lemon Craft), a word sticker from my stash, and my fussy cut butterflies.

To finish my page, I took a bit of the Halo paint from the Mixed Media kit, watered it down, and proceeded to color the left side of the photo and the bottom of the stenciled clock, misting the latter part to allow it to run down the page.
