Restless Beauty

 

I seem to be in a tag-making mood lately. The Color Story for Très Jolie’s November Monthly Challenge along with the November Kit inspired me to create this one.

I decided that I needed a large surface, so I dug out a Thickboard tag.

I chose the paper that I wanted to use for my background, cut it to size and glued it to the tag.

I used my craft knife to trim the corners.

After roughly cutting the hole in the center, I smoothed the edges with a file.

I covered the chipboard pieces with black gesso.

I colored the birds and the reinforcer with Electric Violet metallic wax and put them aside to set.

Using my finger, I lightly rubbed Vintage Gold metallic wax over all the chipboard pieces.

Again using my finger, I highlighted the edges of the tag with the Charcoal Black matte wax that came in the Mixed Media Kit. I also added a couple of streaks to the “white space” to give it a bit of texture.

I adhered the filmstrips and the reinforcer to the tag.

I selected several flowers from the kit and highlighted them with the Vintage Gold metallic wax.

Once the wax had set, I added them to the tag, placing them along the filmstrip chipboard.

I cut a few words from the title sheet, edged them with distress ink, and backed them with packaging scraps. I glued them to the filmstrip chipboard just beneath the flowers.

The birds were backed with more packaging to give them some dimension and attached to the tag.

I filled the gaps with some of the smaller flowers after highlighting them with Vintage Gold metallic wax.
