What Seems Ordinary

The Mood Board Challenge that came with Très Jolie’s December kit – along with the kit itself – put me in mind of a photo that I had used to create a canvas four years ago. http://www.scrappymusings.com/2017/01/kents-point.html

I decided to use it as the focal point in a layout.

I wanted to use the snowflake stencil that came in the kit, but I wanted my flakes to blend in with the blues, rather than be stark white. After a little experimenting with some of my mediums, I decided that Paper Texture Paste with just a small amount of Sparks Magical Pond acrylic would be perfect.

I began to run the paste through the stencil, starting at the top and creating a flow down the page.

I wasn’t striving for perfection. I wanted to create interest with a lot of texture.

I selected two more sheets of the pattern paper and a coordinating chipboard frame to create my design.

After trimming my photo, I cut a piece of packaging to measure just an “nth” smaller. I covered the cardboard with a lot of tape and attached it to the back of the photo…

and glued it to the frame.

I tore a few strips of papers and attached it in layers to the upper right corner.

I tore a large piece from each sheet and to layer behind the photo.

I rubbed a small amount of the Nuvo Mousse onto the backs of two of the icicle strips and allowed it to set. (This only took a few moments.)

I still have a number of branches left from that original canvas. I cut the twigs on one to fit along the side of the photo and used clear adhesive to glue them down, reserving one to use in the upper corner.

I attached one icicle strip to the torn layers in the corner and the other along the frame just below the photo.

I added some flowers: some from the December kit and a few that were left over from August.

To finish my page, I selected a quote strip that I think describes this beautiful scene perfectly. I inked the edges, glued it down and declared my project “finished”.
