This is the last
of four layouts that I created during my long scrappy weekend, again using the
October kit from Très Jolie.
The two women in
the photo are mother and daughter, probably in the early 1940’s. They were
neighbors of my father’s family and later mine; that house in the background is
where I grew up.
I never knew the
younger woman; she died in an accident in 1945, a year before I was born. I did
know the older woman and her husband, using the courtesy titles of “Aunt” Cora
and “Uncle” John. They actually served as surrogate grandparents; as a toddler
and beyond, I was always welcome in their house for cookies and conversation.
Rather than
using packaged flowers to embellish my page, I decided to use the images that I
had fussy cut and inked earlier, layering the pieces with small pieces of
packaging in between to create dimension.
The lace under
the photo was given to me by my hostess, Maggi Harding.
I took a couple
of the resin pieces that were included in the kit and inked them to give them
an aged look.
Once more, I took
the title of my page from the Quotes sheet.
